When we steam distill our freshly harvested Angustafolia Lavenders, the liquid we collect separates into two parts - essential oil and hydrosol. The hydrosol contains many of the herbaceous elements of the plant that essential oil does not, and is often considered to have a 'greener' aroma. As a completely natural product, the scent varies from batch to batch depending on weather and the timing of the harvest. At different times in the lavender plant growing cycle, the fragrance carried through to the hydrosol can be earthy, sweet, or grassy, or it can have a honey scent. The scent is subtle and gently fades, unlike essential oil which is prized for its lingering perfume.
How to Use: Lavender Hydrosol can be used in a variety of ways. With its high water content and low pH close to skin's natural pH, it can be a wonderful addition to your skin care routine - a balancing facial toner, a hair spritz for a quick moisture boost, an overall refreshing body spray. Spray on scrapes, irritated skin, sunburns, and insects bites. It can also be used as an all natural, multi-surface spray cleaner, streak-free glass cleaner, and as a substitute for alcohol-based eyeglass cleaners.
